Operation Kindness Celebrates Dogs and the People Who Love Them

CARROLLTON, Texas (September 30, 2017)—Operation Kindness – North Texas’ original and largest no-kill animal care and adoption center – invites the community to gather their furry friends and come out to Operation Kindness’ Dog Day Afternoon. The annual event is the largest festival in Dallas-Fort Worth celebrating dogs and the people who love them, and will be hosted at the Operation Kindness campus in Carrollton.

“Dog Day Afternoon was created as a way to celebrate the bond between dogs and their owners, and to provide a free, fun event for the community to get to know us,” said Jim Hanophy, CEO of Operation Kindness. “We are able to introduce some of our animals and get the word out about animal adoption, so that when people are ready to adopt, they’ll think of us.”

This year’s free event, sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006. Admission and parking are free. Highlights include:

  • “Mutt midway” with dozens of vendors selling a wide variety of pet-related merchandise and puppy kissing booth
  • Canine contests with ribbons and prizes, including: Best Costume, Stupid Pet Tricks and Best Pooch Smooch
  • Free microchipping for the first 125 dogs
  • Free “Ask the Vet” tent
  • Low-cost pet vaccines by Texas Coalition for Animal Protection
