Operation Kindness Humane Society aims to keep pets with their families. To fulfill this mission, we opened the Dallas St. Clair Pet Food Pantry in August 2017, providing temporary food assistance to families in need of feeding their pets. Since opening over eight years ago, the Pet Food Pantry has recently hit a new major milestone — serving over 5,000 pets in both October and November 2025.
The holiday season can be a challenging time for families, and we want to ensure that feeding your pet is one less thing to worry about. Operation Kindness Humane Society embodies kindness not only during the holiday season but also throughout the year. We are thrilled to have helped so many furry families and look forward to expanding our reach in 2026!
History of Operation Kindness Humane Society’s Pet Food Pantry
Since the opening of the Pet Food Pantry in 2017, we have distributed hundreds of thousands of pounds of pet food, transforming the lives of pets and their families.
In July 2022, Operation Kindness Humane Society launched our Community Initiatives program. This team became dedicated to providing aid to community members and their pets. Their work includes not only running the bi-weekly Pet Food Pantry at our shelter in Carrollton, but also offering affordable, accessible veterinary services to pets across Texas.
With the formation of the Community Initiatives team, we have expanded our pantry services to underserved communities in North Texas. This year, we partnered with Inspired Vision Compassion Center — a community-based food bank in Southeast Dallas — to offer a free monthly Community Pet Food Pantry as well as vaccine, microchip and spay/neuter clinics at their location.
Our pantry has helped families who need relief during emergencies. Following the deadly Central Texas floods in July 2025, we transported 500 bags of pet food to Kerrville, Texas, to provide a free pet food pantry for affected pet owners.
How to Apply to the Pet Food Pantry
Our Pet Food Pantry is always accepting new applications. The process of applying and receiving assistance is easy. Visit our Pet Food Pantry website and fill out the application, which can help with up to three pets from the same household. We will provide food for up to six months, at which time reapplication may be required.
Donate and Volunteer Today
The Pet Food Pantry relies on community donations, making the program successful because of generous donors. You can drop off donations of pet food, treats and litter at our main shelter in Carrollton from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. every day.
If you are interested in volunteering with our Community Initiatives team and assisting with the pantry, fill out a volunteer application form!
