How Community Members Can Support Animals During the Holidays

The holiday season is here, and despite the constant chaos that comes with festive fun, furry friends at Operation Kindness Humane Society are still relying on you to support them. Here are some unique ways you can support shelter animals during the busy holiday season.

Welcome a New Pet into Your Family

Laughter-filled days and unforgettable memories created with family and friends are one reason why the holiday season is so anticipated. Inviting a shelter animal into your family during this time of joy can elevate not only your holiday, but also theirs.

To make it easier for busy families to adopt, we have partnered with Galleria Dallas to host a pop-up holiday adoption event at the shopping center. Located on Level 1, near Banana Republic, Galleria Dallas visitors will be greeted by adoptable cats and dogs, ready to embark on new adventures. The pop-up adoption location will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 28, Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and Sundays from 12:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Holiday Gift Catalog

Shelter cats and dogs always appreciate donations year-round, but during the holiday season, they are extra grateful for resources to boost their holiday spirit. For community members looking to spread cheer this month, we have opened our gift catalog, allowing individuals to donate funds that directly benefit the animals.

With seven gifting options ranging from a kitten care kit, a spa day and an enrichment package, each gift in our catalog breaks down what donations will directly fund.

Animal Shelter Volunteer Opportunities

There’s no better time of the year to promote kindness, and animal shelters are the perfect place to volunteer at if you want to spend time with adorable furry friends while impacting the lives of animals awaiting new homes. Whether with your friends, co-workers or even by yourself, we are always looking for new volunteers.

The organization offers group and individual volunteer opportunities, where volunteers will experience a behind-the-scenes tour, assist with various non-animal handling activities and enjoy personal interactions with animals during their volunteer shift.
