National Dog Day is August 26th

Celebrate National Dog Day by adopting a dog of your own! Whether it’s your first dog or you’re an experienced dog parent, Operation Kindness is happy to help you find your new furry friend.

In 2024, we took in 3,473 dogs who needed our help, and this number is only growing each year. In addition, 143 dogs were treated for parvovirus, a deadly disease most often caught by unvaccinated puppies. Before adoption, many of our dogs and puppies go through a fostering experience to prepare them for life with their new family.

Foster a Dog

If you are not sure about adoption but would like to help us in our mission to provide care and kindness to shelter dogs, then we offer fostering and volunteering roles. Our fostering roles are meant to help our dogs grow, become socialized, recover from medical treatment or as a short-term trial before adoption. We provide on-going support to our fosters and will walk you through any care instructions.

Take a Dog Out for the Day

We even offer the community a chance to enjoy a day out with one of our furry friends through our Kindness on the Go program. If you want to help a shelter dog celebrate National Dog Day in Dallas, you can take them to explore the city and meet new people. The program is completely free to participate in and we will give you everything needed for the day.

Volunteer at Our Shelter

Our volunteers are the heart of our organization, as they provide much-needed support for our staff. Some roles include providing enrichment activities, socialization, exercise and much more to the dogs and puppies inside our shelter. We even offer roles that can match your talents, such as aiding with fundraising events or tour groups.

Adopt Today

For those ready to adopt, our dogs are spayed or neutered, given age-appropriate core vaccinations, and microchipped. This ensures they are healthy and ready to join their new family. For single or multiple dog households, we have dog training tips and resources to help you understand your new best friend. Welcoming a new dog into your home is an exciting time for everyone, visit any of our locations to meet your new canine friend today!
