Celebrate National Puppy Day with us!

National Puppy Day.

This Saturday, March 23, is National Puppy Day! As we celebrate the boundless joy and unconditional love that puppies bring into our lives, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the efforts made to ensure their well-being and find them loving homes. At Operation Kindness, every day is dedicated to caring for these adorable companions, and we’re thrilled to share some insights into our work and the journey of these furry friends.

Puppy Intake on the Rise

In the past year, from March 2022 to February 2023, Operation Kindness has witnessed a remarkable 33% increase in puppy intake. This surge highlights the growing need for our services and the dedication of our team to accommodate and care for these young pups.

Puppies hold a special place in our hearts, constituting a significant 54% of our overall canine intake. This statistic underscores the importance of focusing our efforts on providing specialized care and attention to these vulnerable little ones. From our Neonatal Nursery, designed to care for young kittens and puppies who need round-the-clock care, to our Rees-Jones Medical Wing, where we provide pups with the vaccinations, surgeries and medical care they need, puppies in our care receive top-notch support.

An astounding 83% of our puppy intake comes from transfer intakes, emphasizing the crucial role of partnerships and collaborations with other organizations in rescuing and sheltering puppies. Through these partnerships, we expand our reach and extend our support network, ensuring we help as many puppies as possible.

Empowering Foster Care

Thirty percent of our puppy intake finds refuge in our foster homes before finding their adoptive families. This figure marks a 5% increase from the previous year, highlighting our commitment to providing nurturing environments where puppies can thrive and receive individualized attention.

One notable trend we’ve observed is that puppies are staying available for adoption almost four days longer compared to last year, reflecting a significant 119% increase in time to adopt. We encourage potential adopters to consider adding younger pups in need of loving homes to their families.

Our Pledge on National Puppy Day

As we celebrate National Puppy Day, Operation Kindness reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the well-being and welfare of puppies. Each statistic mentioned above represents not just numbers but lives we’ve touched, journeys we’ve embarked on and futures we’ve transformed.

“We are deeply committed to ensuring that every puppy receives the love, care, and support they need to thrive,” said Operation Kindness CEO Ed Jamison. “Our dedication to caring for as many puppies and other pets as possible is unwavering. Through programs like our foster care initiatives, adoption services, strategic partnerships and more, we strive to provide each puppy with a safe haven and a path to a bright future.”

Together with our supporters, volunteers and partners, we pledge to continue advocating for puppy welfare, providing top-notch care and finding loving homes where wagging tails and playful antics abound.
