Our team at Operation Kindness Humane Society is celebrating Fort Worth Animal Care & Control’s (FWACC) recent achievement — reaching a 90% live release rate for the fiscal year. A 90% live release rate is the recognized standard for lifesaving progress, and the goal shelters across the country strive toward.
We have partnered with FWACC since 2022 through our Shelter Partnership Program. This partnership has allowed us to expand lifesaving efforts and support pets and people across Tarrant County.
Supporting the City of Fort Worth
Our team has stepped up to support FWACC in nearly every aspect of shelter operations.
When pets came in with difficult medical conditions, we provided lifesaving medical and veterinary assistance. When kennel space was running low, Operation Kindness Humane Society staff offered transport assistance, helped with animal transfers and provided placement support. We have shared resources that we use in our daily operations and have worked closely with Fort Worth’s staff to brainstorm and launch collaborative lifesaving initiatives.
FWACC is a valued partner doing important work within its community. Partnerships like this one strengthen outcomes for pets, people, shelters and municipalities alike. We were honored to have team members present at the Fort Worth City Council meeting, where FWACC was formally recognized for this achievement.
What This Means for Tarrant County Pets and the North Texas Community
We are proud to be a part of this major milestone in Fort Worth, which has allowed Tarrant County pets a second chance at finding a loving family. This achievement is a reflection not only of the hard work the City of Fort Worth has put in, but also of the entire North Texas animal welfare community.
Fort Worth ranks as the 11th-largest city in the United States, and saving thousands of animal lives here has required collaboration, innovation and partnerships across organizations.
As Operation Kindness Humane Society expands, we hope to make an impact on shelters across Texas that are still working toward their 90% live release rate goal.
