Ed Jamison, Chief Executive Officer
Since March 2021, Ed Jamison has served as the dedicated CEO of Operation Kindness Humane Society, a Texas-based non-profit animal welfare organization. Under his visionary leadership, Operation Kindness Humane Society has implemented comprehensive programs that positively impact the lives of pets in Texas and beyond. These initiatives range from pet adoptions and community engagement to interstate transport and free spay/neuter clinics.
At the heart of Ed’s leadership is the Operation Kindness campus in Carrollton, Texas. A facility that features a shelter, pet adoption center, state-of-the-art medical wing, 24-hour neonatal kitten nursery and a pet food pantry. Additionally, he oversees the Operation Kindness Lifesaving Partnerships Hub in Dallas, which provides community outreach, veterinary services, and interstate transport for pets.
Before joining Operation Kindness, Ed Jamison served as the Director of Dallas Animal Services, assuming the role in 2017 during a period of intense public scrutiny regarding the city’s animal welfare situation. Faced with the challenge of increasing public safety by addressing loose animals on the streets while improving positive outcomes, Ed launched the impactful “Dallas 90” campaign. This initiative aimed to create a community where both people and animals are safe, respected and equipped with the resources needed to thrive. Despite Dallas having the third-highest animal intake in the nation at over 39,000 in 2019 alone, Ed’s strategic leadership brought about measurable improvements in animal welfare outcomes.
Ed’s commitment to animal welfare dates back to the early 2000s when he began his career in Garfield Heights, Ohio, as Animal Warden. Ed went on to become Chief Animal Control Officer for the City of Cleveland, Ohio, where he spearheaded efforts to redefine the functionality and public perception of animal control. His innovative work led to the creation of the award-winning and trademarked CITY DOGs Cleveland Adoption and Volunteer programs. These groundbreaking initiatives have become models replicated nationwide.
Through his decades of experience, Ed has consistently demonstrated an ability to transform animal welfare organizations while building bridges between animal services and the communities they serve.
Currently, Ed serves on the board of the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement and Shelter Animals Count, further contributing to the advancement and understanding of animal welfare practice.
