Three months ago, over a hundred cats and dogs arrived at our North Texas shelter after deadly floods hit Central Texas. Our team was able to provide them with lifesaving medical care, nourishing food and a comfortable space for them to rest while awaiting their loving homes.
We’re honored to have helped so many of these pets find families where they’re now thriving, healthy and loved beyond belief. Here are two of their stories!
Ivy

Originally named Lavender while at the shelter, Ivy came to Operation Kindness and quickly became a staff favorite. Her easygoing personality and bright smile charmed everyone around her. Our team members loved spending time with her during playtime and walks, and it wasn’t long before her new family fell in love with this sweet girl. Since her adoption on August 12, 2025, Ivy has blossomed! Her family says she’s happy, content and has gained a few healthy pounds!
Buddy

Named Daydream Believer while in our care, his family renamed him Buddy — a name that matches his friendly nature. Buddy was thrilled to meet his match in North Texas and start exploring the sights and sounds of the new city. This gentle giant is now living his best life with daily walks alongside his humans and all the love and attention he deserves. Buddy is obsessed with toys, and his family reports that he now has quite a collection. Despite the wait, he’s now living surrounded by love and making unforgettable memories with his new family.
We love to hear and share success stories like Ivy and Buddy’s! If you have adopted a pet from Operation Kindness, let us know how your pet is doing!
