Brian Hickman, CPA – Chief Financial Officer
Brian Hickman serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Operation Kindness. As CFO, Brian makes sure Operation Kindness drives the most impact for pets in our care and the community by shaping our financial strategy and ensuring our long-term sustainability.
Brian understands how strong fiscal management empowers mission-driven organizations, so he is known for helping organizations achieve their goals by helping partners think wholistically about resources, operations, efficiency and the investments needed for long-term growth. His career spans various senior financial and accounting roles, with years of experience in the non-profit and government spaces. His expertise will be invaluable as Operation Kindness continues to evolve, expand in North Texas and beyond, and set the foundation for our mission in the decades to come.
Prior to Operation Kindness, Brian served as Director of Finance for Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, as well as the Director of Finance & Accounting and Controller at American Quarter Horse Association, and various financial reporting roles at the City of Fort Worth. He earned both a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting and Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater before beginning his career at a public accounting firm in Madison, Wisconsin. He is licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Texas for over a decade and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of CPAs (Dallas Chapter).
For Brian, creating a kinder world for pets has often meant being a safe place for an animal in need. At one time, this meant sharing his home with 3 dogs, 5 chinchillas, a cat, a hedgehog and a saltwater aquarium. Most recently, Brian stepped up to take in “Langston LaMont”, a pup in need of medical attention, from 90-degree Texas heat. Through a caring provider and amazing friends, Langston was quickly able to receive the help he needed and gained a loving home with said friends, and stories like Langston’s bring our mission to life for Brian in the work he does for us every day.
