Operation Kindness Announces 2026 Texas Unites for Animals Conference in Austin, Texas

Texas Unites 2025

Operation Kindness is bringing The Texas Unites for Animals Conference back, ready to make an even bigger impact on the animal welfare professional community for the 17th year of training and programming. From April 23–26, 2026, animal welfare professionals from across the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada will gather once again at the Austin Renaissance Marriott Hotel for four days of learning, connection, and collaboration.

The Texas Unites for Animals program of Operation Kindness enhances professionalism in the animal welfare industry by hosting training opportunities and continuing education courses for those working in animal control, shelters and rescues. The Texas Unites for Animals Conference brings animal welfare professionals from all types of organizations together to collaborate on the shared goal of providing the best possible care and outcomes for animals.

Last year’s event in Allen, Texas, brought new training opportunities to 545 animal welfare professionals from 30 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. More than 85 speakers leading 64 educational sessions gathered while attendees explored fresh approaches to improving the lives of animals and the communities that care for them.

“The Texas Unites for Animals Conference brings the top animal welfare professionals in the state together for inspiration and education on how to strengthen our impact for animals in our communities.” said Ed Jamison, CEO of Operation Kindness. “As we grow this professional development program, we are committed to reaching as many animal welfare workers in Texas as possible.”

This year’s conference will feature eight dedicated learning tracks designed to meet the diverse needs of animal welfare professionals:

  • Shelter Medicine
  • Dog and Cat Behavior
  • Placement and Shelter Programs
  • Community Outreach and Marketing
  • Field Services and Investigations
  • Leadership and Professional Development
  • Collaboration and Partnerships
  • Animal Advocacy and Law

In addition to in-depth sessions and workshops, attendees can look forward to interactive roundtables, engaging discussions, and fun networking events that foster meaningful connections within the animal welfare community.

Texas Unites is currently accepting submissions, sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers for the 2026 event online

In Texas, animal control officers are required to earn 30 hours of continuing education training every three years. Certified Animal Welfare Administrators, Veterinarians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians also have continuing education requirements. Texas Unites training courses and the annual conference help animal welfare workers meet these requirements.
