Operation Kindness Humane Society recently ended our 2026 fiscal year, which ran from July 2025 to July 2026 and guides our organization’s budgeting and planning. Over the past 12 months, our team has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of pets and their families across the state. In all, we served 88,789 animals across all our programs.

Our Work in Dallas County from July 2025 to July 2026
In November 2025, we enhanced our name to more effectively communicate our organization to the general public. While we have broadened our impact beyond North Texas, our main commitment remains to Dallas pets and the people who love them.
During our 2026 fiscal year, we served 65,540 animals in Dallas County alone. Our community initiatives team has worked with local partners to identify where our pop-up events would create the most meaningful change, and to better serve those communities, we have continued to expand access to our pet food pantry and community wellness, vaccine, microchip and spay/neuter clinics.
Not only are we focused on helping pets stay with their families, but we have also continued to assist pets in shelters across the city. This fiscal year, we have transferred 1,251 pets into our care from shelter partners in Dallas. We are constantly building new partnerships with local rescues and shelters to provide relief when capacity restraints arise.
Reaching New Milestones
Pet adoptions are the core of our mission, which is why we are proud to announce that 5,916 pets have found loving homes over the past 12 months. We are so thankful for our fosters, who helped 3,808 cats and dogs enjoy time outside of the shelter and in foster homes. Together, these efforts marked our highest annual totals to date for adoptions, intakes and unique foster pets served.
Our medical team also celebrated a major achievement this fiscal year — treating 275 pets for ringworm, the highest annual total in our organization’s history. Ringworm requires treatment and resources over a span of more than 30 days, but our team remains dedicated to providing that care throughout the treatment process.
To end off our fiscal year, we threw one last party for Tres Leches, the 3,000th kitten served in our neonatal kitten nursery. Tres Leches was transferred to us on June 25, 2026, to receive round-the-clock care and seek a loving family once old enough for adoption. After over a month spent growing strong and healthy with the help of our kitten nursery staff and foster team, Tres Leches was adopted on July 31, 2026, by a friend of his foster family.
Launching New Programs to Help More Pets
Across all locations and programs, we supported 16,291 spay and neuter surgeries during this fiscal year. One way we have increased the number of surgeries we are performing is the opening of our new Dr. Barbara Craig Surgical Mentorship Center. With this new program, we are reducing pet overpopulation while simultaneously offering more training opportunities to early-career veterinarians through our veterinary mentorship program.

While our fiscal year has come to an end, our calendar year continues through December 2026.
