Finding Mojo Again: A Story of Rescue, Recovery, and Partnership

Mojo I Operation Kindness

Operation Kindness, Dallas Animal Services (DAS), and the Dallas Police Department (DPD) recently came together to help a young French Bulldog named Mojo reclaim his mojo.

When DPD responded to an urgent call about suspected animal abuse and neglect, officers discovered Mojo in dire condition.  Severely malnourished and dehydrated, he was immediately seized and, in consultation with DAS, transported to Veterinary Emergency Group for lifesaving treatment.

Once stabilized, Mojo received continued care at DAS, including a carefully tailored feeding plan to support his recovery.  His progress was remarkable: on September 3, 2025, Mojo weighed just 12.8 pounds.  By September 18, his weight had increased to 21.6 pounds, a powerful reflection of the dedication and compassion of his care team.

During this time, Operation Kindness’ forensics team played a critical role in the case.  Our Forensics Veterinarian, Dr. Virginia Charney, provided live exams, follow-up rechecks, and expert testimony in court.  Thanks to the collaborative efforts of DPD and Operation Kindness, Mojo’s custody was officially awarded to DAS.  Soon after, he was adopted into a loving home where he will continue to thrive.

“We are thrilled that Mojo received the medical treatment he needed and are excited that he has made a full recovery,” said Jordan Craig, Chief Community Initiatives Officer of Operation Kindness.  “We are proud of our partnership with the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Animal Services and know how crucial animal cruelty forensic services are for pets in Dallas.”

Mojo’s story is just one of over 7,000 since Operation Kindness partnered with DPD and DAS .  At that time, DAS and DPD had no dedicated support for forensic veterinary evidence gathering in animal cruelty cases.  Through this partnership, our team has provided critical forensic services for nearly three years, including examinations and necropsies for animals suspected of cruelty or neglect.

At Operation Kindness, we remain steadfast in our mission: creating a kinder world for pets and the people who love them.  By assisting in animal cruelty investigations and supporting our law enforcement and shelter partners, we are helping to ensure that more pets like Mojo can find safety, healing, and hope.
