We’re happy to announce the addition of Tori Fugate as our new Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Tori brings a combination of strategic vision, deep animal welfare expertise, and a proven ability of using communications to inspire community engagement to Operation Kindness Humane Society.
She has more than a decade of experience leading marketing and communications for some of the nation’s most recognized animal welfare organizations. Most recently, she served as Director of Communications for Shelter Animals Count at the ASPCA, where she led strategic communications and helped tell the story behind national animal sheltering data.
Before that, Tori spent more than 12 years with KC Pet Project in Kansas City, MO, joining the organization during its early years and helping build its nationally recognized brand from the ground up. In addition to leading marketing, communications, media relations, and community engagement, she served on the team that planned and designed KC Pet Project’s state-of-the-art animal shelter, helping bring the organization’s vision to life.
Throughout her career, Tori has helped mission-driven organizations strengthen their brands, elevate public awareness and inspire communities to support lifesaving work through strategic storytelling and innovative communications. Her work has been featured in national media outlets including People, ABC World News, Forbes, USA Today, Queer Eye, and The Rachael Ray Show.
Tori has become a leader in the marketing and communications field, sharing her expertise with the broader community. Currently, she serves as a committee member for the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) and frequently speaks at conferences on marketing and communications in animal welfare.
Operation Kindness Humane Society is excited to have Tori on our team. Her creativity and knowledge will help us better share the stories of our impact on pets and the people who love them.
