April 11 marks National Pet Day, and with the beautiful spring weather here, there is no better time to take your furry friend on a fun-filled outing. Here are the top five places in the Dallas area to explore with your pet.

Half Price Books Flagship Store

If you and your furry companion prefer to relax and spend some quiet bonding time indoors, then visit Dallas’ Half Price Books flagship store! You and your pet can roam the endless shelves of books, CDs, stationery and games. The bookstore also features a café called La Casita, which offers fresh pastries, teas and coffee to enjoy during your visit.

Pizzana

Are you and your pup both foodies who enjoy trying new restaurants? If so, then check out Pizzana, an award-winning pizza restaurant located on Knox Street. Not only are they dog-friendly, but they also offer “pup pizzas,” ensuring that your canine friend can join in on the pizza party fun!

Dallas Farmers Market

Take a stroll in Downtown Dallas and stop by the Dallas Farmers Market! The market is filled with cats in strollers and dogs strutting down the aisles on their leashes. Your pet can meet fellow furry friends and shop from the various local vendors who sell pet treats, toys and accessories.

Cedar Ridge Preserve

Enjoy a weekend hike with your pet by taking them to explore Cedar Ridge Preserve. With over 600 acres of land, there are plenty of trees and bushes for your pup to sniff. Once you reach the top of the trail, you and your loyal companion can snap a picture with a panoramic view to remember the special day!

The HUB

For family-friendly fun, visit The HUB — an eatery, theater and bar complex in Allen, Texas. The venue is dog-friendly and encourages community members to bring their pups to enjoy its walk-in movie theater, live music, and beautiful dining patios.

Celebrating National Pet Day with a Shelter Dog

If you don’t have a pet to celebrate with, Operation Kindness Humane Society shelter dogs always look forward to exploring the city with community members! Visit our main shelter in Carrollton and sign up for our day foster program called Kindness on the Go. The program is completely free to participate in and helps us learn more about a dog’s personality, while simultaneously providing them with a much-needed break from the shelter environment.
