Our shelter was brimming with purrs, wagging tails and cheerful reunions during Operation Kindness’ first-ever ‘Backyard Jamboree.’ Hosted at our Carrollton shelter on Sept. 18 to celebrate North Texas Giving Day, the family fun event helped us raise last-minute funds while enjoying time together as a community.
An Evening Full of Highlights
The fun-filled two-hour event included bad pet portraits drawn by Operation Kindness employees, a customized pet bandana station, stuffed animal adoptions, shelter tours and delicious burgers from the Easy Sliders food truck.
Laughter filled the evening air, with families of Operation Kindness alumni reminiscing about when they first adopted their pets and sharing stories of their new adventures. Baby Grand, the 1,000th kitten cared for in our neonatal kitten nursery, made a surprise appearance at the jamboree with her family and fellow feline sibling.
Thank You for Supporting Us
This North Texas Giving Day, we raised a record-breaking $447,000 thanks to your generosity. We appreciate everyone who donated and visited us during the Backyard Jamboree. All money raised from the campaign will continue quality care for dogs and cats by providing fostering and adoption programs, lifesaving care, food, shelter, medication and other resources to benefit animals in need.
If you missed out on the giving day, there are still plenty of ways to support us. Visit our website to learn how you can give to Operation Kindness and help pets in need across Texas.
