Pioneer Paws Brings Summer Camp to Operation Kindness

Summer Camp at the Shelter

Curious as to how we spent our summer vacation? This July, 25 children came through the doors of Operation Kindness for a one-of-a-kind summer camp, Pioneer Paws. For two days, campers went behind the scenes of their favorite local animal shelter in the name of summer fun.

As camp attendees, little animal lovers got to see vital shelter work such as veterinary medical and dental exams up close.  To learn more about animal behaviors, campers were able to participate in dog play groups. Campers especially loved visiting the neonatal kitten nursery to see the babies being bottle-fed and playing with senior dogs. There was also time for fun and games, with camp including arts and crafts, cat tower building and dog food competitions.

These special camp sessions taught eager attendees more about our local animal welfare agencies’ importance and how to grow into successful pet owners.
