Now offering in-person adoption appointments

As we navigate the changing world during the pandemic, we’ve remained committed to helping homeless pets find loving families through tele-adoption services. During this time, expansion and renovation of our facility has also been underway!

Now offering in-person adoption appointments for dogs and kittens

With the conclusion of our construction project, we are pleased to announce that we are now offering in-person adoption appointments, starting today!

How the adoption process works

To start the adoption process, complete an online adoption questionnaire. Next, you will be prompted to schedule an in-person appointment (or a tele-adoption appointment for adult cats). Appointments are available daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

When you arrive for your in-person adoption appointment, a staff member will meet you at the front door of our new adoption lobby and confirm your appointment. Then you’ll head to the back yard and we’ll introduce you to the dog you are interested in adopting. For kittens and young cats, you’ll head to a Cat Meet & Greet Room to get acquainted with the cat you are interested in.

At the end of your appointment, if you are ready to adopt, we will complete your paperwork and the pet can go home with you the same day (in most cases). If you decide not to adopt, we’ll keep your information on file and encourage you to keep checking our website for other pets that may be a good fit.

If you are interested in adopting an adult cat, you will complete the adoption over the phone. Cats are not currently available for in-person appointments. Adult cats are thriving in their foster homes and returning to Operation Kindness to meet new people would cause them stress. If you would like to request a tele-adoption appointment for a dog, please email us and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Here’s what we’re doing to keep visitors safe

  • While indoors, face masks or coverings are required for all guests and for staff and volunteers interacting with guests.
  • While outdoors, face masks are not required for those who are fully vaccinated or when social distancing can be maintained.
  • Social distancing of at least 6 feet encouraged at all times.
  • Enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces after each visitor.

If you have any questions about our new process, please send us an email or call us at 972-418-7297.
