Our Commitment to Texas Pets and Shelter Partners

In April 2026, Operation Kindness Humane Society was awarded $1 million through the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Spay/Neuter Program (TxSNP). Two months in, we have completed 726 surgeries — with 454 performed in May alone.

This two-year program will run from 2026 to 2027. We will be rolling out services throughout this period based on strategic priorities, community needs and program opportunities.

The first two months of launch

Since launching this program, we have submitted $174,825 in TxSNP reimbursement funding for completed spay/neuter surgeries. We have also partnered with 11 shelters and animal welfare organizations across seven Texas counties, with our top three partners being Dallas Animal Services, City of Fort Worth Animal Care and Control and Anderson County.

Why are spay/neuter surgeries crucial to the community?

Every surgery helps to prevent future litters, reduces strain on overcrowded shelters, and creates a healthier future for pets and the communities that care for them. Every month, we’ll be sharing our progress so our communities can see exactly how these funds are being used to create measurable impact for pets across Texas. What’s coming up next

With the funding, we aim to help communities all around the state. Our community initiatives team plans to visit Palestine, TX, and Terlingua, TX, during the summer months to help with spay/neuter surgeries from shelter partners and community pets. While our team is based in North Texas, we are dedicated to helping pets in every community, especially rural or underserved areas.

While we will not be offering a single, ongoing appointment schedule, services will be made available through specific programs, promotions, and targeted clinic opportunities announced over time.  To stay informed about upcoming availability, we encourage you to:
