Operation Kindness celebrates Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

It’s an exciting time at Operation Kindness!

For the past year and a half, we’ve offered tele-adoptions and then transitioned into appointment-only adoptions due to the pandemic. And, we’ve been undergoing a major renovation and expansion project on our facility for the past several years.

But now we are thrilled to welcome the community back to our completed facility! While continuing to follow safety protocols, Operation Kindness is now open daily for in-person adoptions with no appointments necessary.

We celebrated our grand opening event on Thursday, July 29 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome everyone back to the shelter. The love and support we’ve received from the community throughout the years, especially during the pandemic and construction, has been amazing. Celebrating together was one way to show our appreciation to our partners and the community who have been with us every step of the way.

Festivities started at 10 a.m., beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening remarks from members of our leadership team: Ed Jamison, CEO of Operation Kindness, and Mary Mitchell, President of the Board of Directors. We were also joined by the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce and local officials.

Guests took self-guided tours of the renovated facilities. Visitors explored the new lobby, the pet meet and greet rooms, the new cat hallway, Bear’s Den and the expanded backyard.

Operation Kindness Blog - Reliant is Walking Path Sponsor North Texas No-Kill Animal ShelterWe were also thrilled to celebrate Reliant’s generous donation of $30,000 to be our Walking Path Sponsor for on-site trails. The dogs love having these paths to explore our backyard while they wait to meet their new families. The new trails are marked with a memorial plaque, courtesy of Impact Signs.

It was a hot day, so to keep everyone cool and hydrated, Raising Cane’s of Addison, supplied their signature lemonade for guests to enjoy.

Now that we are reopened, if you would like to adopt a pet, just visit the shelter and one of our staff members will help you meet our adoptable dogs and cats. We are open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

If you have been involved with any of our services, programs, partnerships, volunteer or donation opportunities, thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. If you weren’t able to attend the event, you can watch a video here.
