Operation Kindness Humane Society serves as a transfer partner for more than 100 rescue groups and municipal shelters like DAS. When they’re low on space or have animals who need lifesaving care, your generosity allows us to step in and help. As soon as Starfire arrived at our Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing, our veterinary team examined her hurt leg and learned her knee had previously been broken. They had to make the difficult decision to amputate so that she could live a happy, healthy life. Your support makes emergency surgeries like Starfire’s possible.
After a few weeks recovering in our medical wing, this resilient dog found out that she loved life on three legs. She could finally run, jump and play again!
In late March, a family came to Operation Kindness Humane Society and fell in love not only with Starfire but also with her best friend, a fellow cattle dog named Mickey. This Thanksgiving, Starfire and Mickey both have a loving family. They can romp Starfire and play in their new backyard to their hearts’ content. Best of all, Starfire has zero pain!
