The Board Members Behind Operation Kindness Humane Society

To continue our 50th-anniversary celebration, we are shifting our focus to the present time and highlighting individuals who are contributing to Operation Kindness Humane Society’s growth.

Since our board of directors was first formed, its work has been pivotal to maintaining our success and expanding from a local shelter to a nationally recognized lifesaving organization. Meet three of our dedicated board members who are helping lead the way:

Meet Dr. Catherine Griffin

Dr. Catherine Griffin’s connection to our organization spans more than two decades. Over the years, she has supported our work in nearly every way — as a volunteer, foster, adopter and now as a member of our board of directors. “It was an easy yes,” she shared when asked why she chose to serve.

Today, what excites her most about our organization reflects the evolution of modern animal welfare. First, she points to the strength of our veterinary team: professionals delivering high-quality medical and surgical care not only for animals in our shelter, but also for pets in communities across Texas. She’s equally energized by our growing ability to support pet families with critical resources, helping people keep the pets they love and reducing the number of animals entering shelters in the first place.

Meet Scott Wilson

In 2019, Scott joined our volunteer team, where he enjoyed taking shelter dogs on strolls around the backyard and helping tiny kittens grow into healthy, adoptable cats. However, he was quickly converted from a volunteer to a member of our board of directors. Having chaired multiple boards across Texas, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge that makes him an invaluable member of our team.

Scott said what excites him most about being a part of our organization is twofold: the number of animals we can aid and how our impact continues to grow beyond what he ever imagined possible.

With our programs impacting the lives of over 83,000 pets in 2025, and with that number projected to grow this year, Scott is proud to play a role in helping thousands of animals live happy, healthy lives with their families. He looks forward to the future of Operation Kindness Humane Society and knows that there are still many ways to further assist the community.

Meet Kevin Ryan

As a new addition to our board of directors, Kevin was eager to join the team after recently adopting his dog from our organization and learning about the impressive community programs alongside our shelter operations.

“I knew I wanted to be part of this great team, helping animals and people!” Kevin said.

Kevin is excited to help advance our core mission beyond Texas and connect with communities that have previously been out of our reach.

“I look forward to the next 50 years to help even more animals and people — the time is now!”

Thank You for Advancing Our Mission

Our work is only possible through teamwork and meaningful collaboration. We appreciate everyone serving on Operation Kindness Humane Society’s Board of Directors and are excited to see the incredible impact we will create together as a community.
