We are excited to announce that Rockwall Pets, a long-standing, volunteer-driven rescue organization dedicated to increasing live outcomes at local, overcrowded shelters through animal transfers, has officially merged with Operation Kindness Humane Society. This strategic merger strengthens two of Dallas Animal Services’ (DAS) most committed rescue partners and allows us to save even more lives while expanding critical community services into Rockwall and the surrounding areas.
For more than a decade, both Operation Kindness Humane Society and Rockwall Pets have worked closely with DAS to help pets at risk find safety through transfer, foster care, medical treatment and adoption. By uniting under one organizational umbrella, the partnership will increase efficiency, expand capacity and enhance collaboration, ultimately helping DAS serve animals and the community more effectively.
Strengthening Support for Dallas Animal Services
Dallas Animal Services relies on strong rescue partnerships to maintain lifesaving outcomes and manage shelter capacity. Together with other rescue partners, we have been instrumental in transferring thousands of dogs and cats out of DAS and into our care, helping to increase DAS’ lifesaving rates by increasing kennel space for incoming animals.
“This merger allows us to deepen our already-strong commitment to Dallas Animal Services,” said Ed Jamison, Chief Executive Officer of Operation Kindness Humane Society. “By aligning Rockwall Pets’ incredible volunteer network and local expertise with Operation Kindness Humane Society’s infrastructure, medical resources and adoption programs, we can help even more pets leave DAS and other municipal shelters safely and find homes.”
Rockwall Pets has been a trusted DAS partner for more than 10 years, known for its grassroots foster network and dedication to lifesaving. Bringing these efforts together enables more coordinated transfers, expanded foster placements, and increased adoption opportunities, all of which directly support DAS’s lifesaving goals.
Expanding Community Impact into Rockwall
Our organization has grown and is now widely recognized for our Community Initiatives programs, which focus on keeping pets and families together through preventive care and support services. These programs include, but are not limited to, community vaccine and microchip clinics, spay/neuter surgeries and the Dallas St. Clair Pet Food Pantry, which provides food assistance to families experiencing financial hardship.
With the merger with Rockwall Pets, we will expand the geographic reach of our services into Rockwall and the surrounding communities.
“This is about meeting people and pets where they are,” said Jamison. “Rockwall Pets has deep roots in the Rockwall community and together, we can bring vital services like vaccine clinics and pet food assistance to families who may not have had access before.”
By increasing access to preventive care and food assistance, this merger aims to reduce shelter intake, support pets in their homes and address challenges before they become crises.
Looking Ahead: the Rockwall Pets Connection
As we move forward together, the focus remains clear: saving more lives at Dallas Animal Services and other local municipal shelters, expanding access to essential community services and building a stronger, more connected animal welfare network across North Texas.
