Teaching our children to become the next generation of responsible pet owners is the foundation of our Kindness for Kids Humane Education program. We deliver our popular programs at area schools, community recreation centers and on our campus.
Experienced volunteer teachers partner with friendly shelter dogs to help teach the fun, engaging lessons. The dog’s backstory is used for learning about math, history, the environment, science and creative problem solving. Through these lessons, children learn how to care for the family pet, and develop greater compassion and empathy for all life. Key elements include:
  • How to be a responsible pet owner
  • How to care for your pet
  • How to avoid dog bites
  • Presentation with entertaining visuals
  • Presentations are modified to appeal to different aged children
  • Question & Answer period
  • Take-home handouts/materials
  • Additional resource materials available upon request.
Kindness for Kids is schools and after-school centers in:

Want to Teach?

Volunteers are needed to present a fun, interactive humane education program to students during regular school hours on campus and after-school at local recreation centers. Those who are interested must have a heart for children, a love for animals and be able to present the lessons.

All volunteers must pass a criminal background check and complete volunteer orientation.

Kamp Kindness

Kamp Kindness is the popular summer day camp that offers children ages 7 to 12 the opportunity to learn about dogs and cats, and how to take proper care of the family pets. Through direct, frequent contact with our homeless pets, campers are taught the importance of humane animal treatment.

The week-long day camps range from $150 to $175 and include animal encounters, education, plus plenty of fun arts and crafts.
