ADOPTION INFO & FAQ

Thank you for your interest in providing a forever home for a homeless animal
PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW

We regularly post pictures and histories of many animals under our care on our website and on PetFinder to help find loving, forever homes for the animals in our care.

As with all of our animals, we can't guarantee an animal will be at the shelter when you come in, as they could be adopted at any moment!

Feel free to call and check on any animal or stop by to visit all of the gang at Operation Kindness!

Operation Kindness is a no-kill animal welfare organization that provides food, shelter and veterinary care for homeless, abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs until they are adopted into loving homes. These animals are not merchandise, rather, they are living creatures entrusted to our care. It is our responsibility and mission to find the best possible homes for them and to meet the individual needs of each animal.

We reserve the right to deny any adoption as we see fit.

Before Adoption

While at Operation Kindness, every animal receives the following:

  • First vaccinations: DHP-Parvo/Bordatella for dogs and puppies. FVRCP for cats and kittens
  • Rabies vaccination to animals over four
    months of age
  • Worming
  • Collar and ID Tag
  • Microchip
  • Spay or Neuter surgery for animals over eight weeks old
  • Treatment of any known illness
  • Bath and flea dip
  • Heartworm test and treatment if necessary. Heartworm preventive for dogs and puppies

After Adoption

With the adoption of every animal, adopters receive the following:

  • Adoption counseling to help the adopter select the dog or cat best suited to his/her needs, family and home environment
  • Pet care and educational materials
  • Temporary carrier for cats
  • Temporary leash for dogs
  • Operation Kindness tag with animal ID
  • Microchip ID and lifetime registration
  • Rabies Tag for animals over four months of age
  • Pet-care starter kit with food samples and helpful information
  • Spay or neuter surgery (if not previously done due to young age or medical reason)

Adption Fees

The Adoption Fee* is:

  • $110 for cats
  • $135 for kittens (under 1 year of age)
  • $135 for dogs
  • $160 for puppies (under 1 year of age)

A $20 discount is given to senior citizens 65 and over and to adopters who adopt two pets at the same time.

* The Adoption Fee helps us to cover the costs of all the procedures for the animals in our care, including: tests, vaccinations, collars/tags, microchipping, spay/neuter surgery, medical procedures, surgeries, rehabilitation and recovery.

Any donations over the stated adoption fees are greatly appreciated. On average, we spend more than $270 for each animal in our care.
