Dallas/Fort
Worth People 'N Pets
Dallas is known for its myriad
of dining options, and there's no reason that your dog can't go with you. While
we haven't quite achieved the
same open-door policy toward pets that you'll find in Europe, a growing number
of area eateries are allowing people to bring their four-legged
friends along for a bite.

If you know of a restaurant that offers outdoor dining, it's worth a call to
find out if they'll let you bring your dog along. And of course, you can always
go to
Starbucks or Coffee Haus for a cup of caffeine with your canine.
In the meantime, here are some dog-friendly restaurants and other businesses
that welcome dogs:
(Policies are subject to change - this list is based on information we have received but have not verified. Please email if you have updated info)
- Stratos Global Greek Taverna - Located on Northwest Highway
just East of I-35, this Greek cuisine restaurant has a dog friendly patio
and a dog
loving staff. Plus, the food is delicious!
- Beau Nash - It may come as a surprise to know that this
renowned restaurant in Hotel Crescent Court is animal-friendly. Named one
of the top 10 grills
in America by Food & Wine magazine, it tops our list because it allows
leashed dogs to join their people at the outdoor tables. 214-871-3240
- The Gingerman - For sheer laid-back hanging out, this brewpub
has it all for both man and his best friend. People can enjoy a variety of
beers and wines,
as well as a nice range of appetizers, and during the weekends there always
seems to be a half-dozen dogs hanging out with their peeps on the patio. 214-754-8771
- The Old Monk - One of the mainstays of the Knox-Henderson
scene, this bar-with-food welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables and offers bi-ped

this French restaurant allows dogs to join diners at its outdoor tables -
and oftentimes they're as
well-dressed for a night on the town as their owners. Dogs receive complimentary
treats and their choice of Evian or Perrier. 469-533-5663

Out & About With Your Pet
As the number of pet-oriented retailers grows, there are more places for dogs
to go shopping with their owners. You can expect that pet boutiques will allow
animals
inside, but the outing doesn't have to end there. Here's where you can go for
more animal-friendly faces behind the counter:
- Neiman Marcus - Dallas' most famous store not only carries
some extremely fine gifts for pets and their people, but the original building
allows well-behaved canines
to shop with their owners. Emphasis on "well-behaved," of course.
214-741-6911
- Pottery Barn - In case you haven't noticed by now, the
Knox-Henderson area is a great area for animals - and you can add Pottery
Barn to the list of dog-friendly
stores. Shop for home furnishings at this store at 3220 Knox St. with your
leashed loved one. 214-528-3202
- Stanley Korshak - This elegant store is staffed with a
number of animal lovers, and they'll be more than happy to see you accompanied
by your four-legged and
leashed friend. While you're there, check out the line of high-end pet beds
and accessories by C.C. Cord, or look into commissioning a portrait by painter
Holly Emery.
- Whole Earth Provisions, Mockingbird at Central - loves
critters and lavishes them with attention!
- The Brazos Drive-In Theater in Granbury encourages people
to bring their leashed pets to the movie. Load up the car and enjoy the show
... $15 per carload.

- Postal General at Skillman & Oram (1927 Skillman St.)
in the Lakewood area. They love to see your well behaved pets. Postal General
is a private mail center that
can ship your packages and your pooch can come too!
