Join us for the 16th annual Canines,
Cats & Cabernet,
benefiting Operation Kindness, North Texas’ largest and oldest
no-kill animal shelter. Take pleasure in sampling fine wines, enjoying
delicious hors d'oeuvres, and have a great time bidding on more than
200 live and silent auction items while mingling with fellow animal
lovers.
In the past 15 years, Canines, Cats & Cabernet has raised more than $600,000
to help care for homeless animals in our community. Canines,
Cats & Cabernet
is Operation Kindness’ most important fundraiser of the year and helps
provide much-needed funds for the care of the animals. The proceeds from
this event helped Operation Kindness provide quality care and new homes for
nearly
3,000 dogs and cats in 2008.
This year’s recipient
of Operation Kindness' Sarah M. & Charles
E. Seay Kindness to Animals Award is Stephanie Dickason,
for her efforts in creating a physical therapy rehabilitation program
for
the animals of Operation Kindness. Animals often come to Operation
Kindness with broken legs, hip dysplasia, or other injuries, and
require surgeries or other treatments. Stephanie, a long-time Operation
Kindness Volunteer, was aware of this and decided to apply her skills
as a Physical Therapist at Parkland Hospital to improve the lives
of the injured animals. She personally raised the funds for and managed
the building of our rehabilitation equipment, trains other volunteers
on how to provide physical therapy to our recovering animals, and
spends many hours each week working directly with the animals requiring
her care. We commend Stephanie her dedication and kindness to the
animals of Operation Kindness.
This
year’s recipients of Operation Kindness' Kindness
to Animals Media Award are Katy Bandish and Dane Miller of Azure
Marketing communications. Katy and Dane believe that companies should
give back to the community, and are excellent examples of this! In
the spirit of helping needy animals, they have provided hundreds
of hours or pro-bono services which assist Operation Kindness in
highlighting animal welfare issues and its mission in the media.
Dane is the creative force behind all public service announcements
and the marketing campaigns for our annual fundraisers Dog Day Afternoon
and Canines, Cats & Cabernet. Katy rose to the large challenge
of creating a new Operation Kindness website that debuted in August
of 2008, as well as building the websites for Dog Day Afternoon and
Canines, Cats & Cabernet. We are proud to recognize and honor
Katy and Dane for their community-minded leadership, and for their
commitment and kindness to animals.
