Veterinary Tech Assistant

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean and sanitize all medical areas.
  • Feed, walk and exercise all hospital animals.
  • Assist vet techs with surgical prep up to and including holding animals for intubation an pre-anesthesia injections
  • Log in medical data into a web based database system
  • Assist with theraputic procudures and medicated baths and dips
  • Other duties as directed by kennel supervisor

education and SKILLS Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of web based data entry
  • One year minimum experience working in an animal hospital or animal shelter
  • Highly motivated and dependable
  • Animal shelter experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in a team environment with co-workers and volunteers
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers, volunteers and clients
  • Ability to work well with and care for dogs, puppies, cat and kittens
  • Must be able to lift at least a 40 lb bag of food and a 50 lb bag of litter
  • Loves animals

Schedule Required

  • To be determined
  • 40 hours per week, 10 hour/day, 4 days/week.   Days and hours to be determined.   Must be able to work weekends.
